4 WAYS TO BREEZE THROUGH YOUR LAUNDRY
Do you often feel like you only have that last pair of old socks left at the end of the week to wear? Do you search endlessly for that top you want to wear on date night, only to realise it’s been at the bottom of the washing pile for two weeks? You’re not alone! Laundry can be an incredibly boring and tedious task, and if left unattended can turn into a monster of a job.
With the right habits and tricks up your sleeve, you can tackle your pile of laundry with confidence.
Here are four ways to breeze through your laundry like a BOSS:
1. Wash your clothes less
Let’s first clarify this – look, we’re not saying you should resign to being unsanitary, but people often get caught up with washing every item after every use. Clothing items like jeans can last a few wears without washing, and outer shirts, jackets and jumpers can withstand a couple of days too. Keep a realistic attitude toward what needs to be washed and avoid having to do your entire wardrobe every week. This is also better for the environment as you’re using less energy and water on average.
2. Attack the stains at first sight!
It is easy to spill something on that nice shirt then chuck it in your washing pile to deal with later. Unfortunately, this will only prolong your laundry pain. Getting stains out after being left a while makes them a lot harder to remove. Remember – scrub when you spill!
3. The old towel trick
If you really want a load to dry quickly, put a dry towel in with your clothes and watch them dry exponentially faster! It’s one of the biggest scientific mysteries of our time (well not really, the dry towel just helps absorb the moisture from your other clothes). Have you tried this at home?
4. Categorise those baskets
Do you separate you whites and colours? It can be tedious and annoying to separate when you’re going through your washing, but it does mean you don’t accidentally end up with an originally-white-now-tie-dyed shirt. Try using two baskets and separating when you put something in – then you can easily just throw the whole load in. If you really want to do laundry like a BOSS then add a third socks and underwear basket, you might find you end up solving the mystery of the “single sock drawer” with this method!
